Calothamnus borealis
''Calothamnus borealis'' is a plant in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae and is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a small, erect shrub with crowded, cylindrical leaves and red flowers. It grows in sand surrounded by spinifex or heath. ''Calothamnus borealis'' is a low, spreading shrub with many stems, growing to a height of about and with new growth covered with soft hairs. Its leaves are crowded, mostly long and wide, cylindrical in shape, tapering to a non-prickly point. The flowers are red and are arranged in small clusters containing 1 to 12 individual flowers, mostly hidden among the leaves. The petals are about long, pinkish to brownish in colour with a papery texture. The stamens are arranged in 5 claw-like bundles with 20 to 25 stamens per bundle. Flowering occurs from July to September and is followed by fruits which are woody, almost cylindrical capsules, long and in diameter.〔
